Run Fatboy, Run!
So … there is this system where you can go from a Couch potato to running a 5k in 9 weeks. It has been designed to get 40 and 50 somethings fit enough to do a 5k fun/park run… allegedly… C25K it’s called by the aficionados with podcasts, apps and everything… phone is a bit full so didn’t bother installing anything and gave it a go on Sunday. Running a mile circuit with Jules providing the timings from her training schedule … run for two minutes walk for two minutes… OK so far set off at a cracking pace, and rapidly ran out of air! Yet again humbled by Jules trotting alongside and encouraging me to keep going, and her not breaking a sweat .
Managed to do a couple of the reps before it started to become a struggle… but managed to somehow trot the last few meters home… downloaded the app now.
Jo Whiley will be my new “trainer”, and hopefully more gentle … so Week 1 with a gap between three separate days , you begin with a brisk 5-minute warm-up walk, then you will alternate 60 seconds of running, with 90 seconds of walking, for a total of 20 minutes…. Day One is completed , well -ish so lets see what Day Two on Wednesday brings…
